About the position
The Shipping and Receiving position at Branex Group involves overseeing the logistics of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The role requires assessing current processes and implementing improvements while supervising the movement of materials and maintaining equipment storage areas. This entry-level position is essential for the smooth operation of the shipping and receiving department.
Responsibilities
- Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and condition of shipments.
- Assess current processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements.
- Issue work orders or oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Supervise and direct the movement of freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers.
- Ensure that cargo is identified and inspected before loading and unloading and compared to shippers.
- Document and handle discrepancies according to proper procedure.
- Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance accordingly.
- Compile records related to shipping and receiving.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
- Supervise the completion of general yard duties, such as housekeeping, cleanup, inventory/material counts, and general organization.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience with Hi-Lo operation.
- 1 year of experience with reach truck operation.
- 1 year of experience in picking and packing.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ERP system material handling software.
- Fork truck license preferred, with training available for certification.
