About The Position

Workstream is seeking a proactive, problem-solving Data Collector Shift Lead to oversee and optimize daily field data collection operations. The Shift Lead is accountable for the volume and quality of usable data captured by their team, the readiness and reliability of the people and hardware, and the daily improvement of the operation. This role involves leading a team of 1-10 collectors in various on-site and off-site locations, ensuring high-quality data capture, managing hardware, developing team members, and partnering with management to improve operations. While the primary focus is leadership and quality control, hands-on data collection may be required as a backup.

  • Technical Aptitude: Solid technical knowledge and a proven ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware issues on the spot.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 1–10 collectors on-site and at off-site dispatch locations.
  • Assign and delegate tasks, adjusting oversight based on collector experience.
  • Plan shifts for regular collectors and submit them for management review.
  • Commute with and supervise a small team off-site, ensuring effective recording.
  • Run regular check-ins on data collectors, including communication and battery-level checks.
  • Follow up with off-site locations to ensure data collection is available.
  • Monitor camera activity throughout the shift and ensure high-quality data is captured.
  • Catch and correct quality issues in real time.
  • Manage data collectors’ logs, ensuring information is properly recorded and communicated.
  • Maintain daily hardware status updates, tracking every device and its status in the app.
  • Troubleshoot hardware sets and resolve common technical issues on the spot.
  • Build and prep hardware sets as needed.
  • Run training and orientation days for candidates.
  • Deliver weekly recaps and plan the coming week with management.
  • Run pre-shift and post-shift meetings to ensure collectors are on track with goals and aligned on announcements.
  • Partner with management to brainstorm and improve the operation, including helping draft SOPs.
  • Support side projects such as simple spreadsheet lists, room/interior planning, and hardware builds.
  • Prep for the next day, ensuring the office and all stations are ready for the next shift.
  • AM Shift Leads capture past-day results and hand off to the operations leader.
  • Collect data yourself when assigned or when the shift demands it (as a backup).
