About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Sheeter Material Handler for their Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. This role is crucial in the manufacturing of advanced composite materials. The position involves operating specialized machinery to lay up printed nomex sheets for HOBE construction, cutting sheets to specific lengths, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials to the next stage of production. The selected individual will also be responsible for quality inspection of the finished product and assisting other operators. Hexcel is an industry leader in advanced composites, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, and additive manufactured parts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Sheeter/Stacker to automatically lay-up printed nomex sheets in order to construct a HOBE.
  • Cuts sheet to desired length on the 90 Degree Sheeters and directs them to the lay-up process.
  • Loads and unloads hand layup tables.
  • Unloads and inspects HOBE for compliance to customer specifications.
  • Assures that they flow through the process and are delivered on time to the correct work center.
  • Using Kan-Ban cards available and following the lowest item number on the routings available locates material to be sheeted in printed material staging area.
  • Uses overhead crane to load rolls of printed material on 90 Degree Sheeter.
  • Utilizes Big Joe to load the Sheeter/Stackers with printed material.
  • Threads machine and sets computer controls for pitch, sheet length, and number of sheets.
  • Sets up the 90 Degree Sheeter to ensure it is cutting properly and operating safely.
  • Once sheeted block is completed delivers block to the manual lay-up tables and assist lay-up operator load block on table.
  • Starts Sheeter/Stacker to check for sheet alignment and runs machine per normal process.
  • Visually checks printed roll for flagged printed defects and immediately shuts down machine to correct.
  • Marks the flagged areas of the printed roll with a sharpie marker to ensure the operator running the Sheeter/Stacker can tell when a defect will occur so that the defective sheet(s) can be removed from the block prior to moving the block to the next operation.
  • Reviews finished HOBE for squareness, folded sheets, offsets and double laps; turns sheet over, and unloads HOBE to press cart; visually inspects HOBE.
  • Approves and stamps off HOBE and forwards HOBE to the next operation.
  • Advises and assists lay-up operators with quality situations at their tables.
  • Contacts the Lead, Supervisor, or Engineer as needed for support on addressing quality issues.

Benefits

  • Start rate: $25.00 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $27.31 Per Hour.
  • This position pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium
  • Overtime is often required.
