About the position

Linde seeks a Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) Specialist for its facility in Nederland, TX, one of Linde's largest globally. Reporting to the LGUS SH&E Director, this role will serve as a site resource for safety, environmental, health, security, and emergency response, fostering operational excellence and a culture aligned with Linde's values. As a senior-level professional, this role applies advanced knowledge of operational safety, process safety, pipeline safety, and environmental standards to protect the health and safety of employees, the community, and the environment. The position provides leadership and guidance to minimize accidents and incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Work with site employees, leadership, and corporate teams to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious workplace.
  • Oversee daily safety and environmental activities at the site.
  • Apply knowledge in safety, industrial hygiene, Process Safety Management (PSM), environmental compliance, emergency response, and site security.
  • Identify and implement safety improvement opportunities proactively.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Linde policies and standards.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, manage reporting, and facilitate Root Cause Analysis.
  • Conduct effective safety training programs to educate employees on protocols and procedures.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring and assessments.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports for permits and regulations.
  • Engage with employees in proactive field interactions to address issues and prevent incidents.
  • Utilize computer systems proficiently, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7 years of experience in safety/environmental roles, or an associate's degree with 12 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in operational safety, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) in refinery or chemical plant environments.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough accident/incident investigations and facilitate Root Cause Analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work in both office and field settings, with approximately 30% travel involving overnight stays.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and the ability to interpret them accurately.
  • OSHA-authorized trainer for 10-hour and 30-hour General or Construction Industry safety courses.
  • Experience in conducting industrial hygiene monitoring and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and implement safety improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing safety programs and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with emergency response planning and execution.
