About the position

The Services for Adults Assistant Division Director at Mecklenburg County is responsible for overseeing the delivery of services to seniors and disabled adults within the Services For Adults (SFA) Division. This role involves managing programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing leadership to the operations team. The position requires collaboration with internal and external partners to enhance service outcomes and address the evolving needs of the client population.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight, activities, and direction for implementation of day-to-day core Adult Social Work, Community Social Work and Guardianship programs and services.
  • Assist the Division Director with strategic planning, annual program budget requests, and expenditure monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policy, rules, and regulations.
  • Support staff and assist with program effectiveness evaluations.
  • Manage the day-to-day functions of service delivery to clients and their caregivers.
  • Maintain familiarity with the North Carolina General Statute for Adult Protective Services.
  • Prepare, manage and maintain annual budgets and monthly program expenses to support Adult Services.
  • Prioritize resource allocation to meet service needs and ensure alignment with SFA Division budget.
  • Develop and interpret policies and procedures of the SFA Division.
  • Present information at meetings or convenings to promote services, exchange ideas, or accomplish objectives as needed.
  • Assist in providing information to the public regarding programs and services, as well as responding to concerns.
  • Manage Adult Services appeals from family members and caregivers.
  • Oversee the investigation of reported allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Manage the implementation of the Adult and Community Service programs and Age Friendly Mecklenburg work plan/training plans including implementation of plans to assure improvement, track progress and recommend changes.
  • Keep abreast of federal, state, and local trends and changes in policies and practices that impact service delivery.
  • May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years management/supervisory experience with at least seven years of direct related experience in human services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, or applicable Health and Human Services field.
  • May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Gerontology, or applicable Health and Human Services field.
  • Previous experience and involvement with the integration of human services related programs.
  • Previous experience with mandated Adult social services programs, including but not limited to, In-Home Aide, Special Assistance-In Home, Case Management, Representative Payee, Adult Protective Services, and Adult Guardianship.
