About the position

The Service Technician is responsible for performing basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. This position may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, or other experienced Service Technicians. Responsibilities

  • Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Agriculture Management Solutions (AMS) products.
  • Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain current and up to date knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Maintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Account for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime including extended hours and weekends.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies and regulations and keep your workplace clean, orderly and free of hazards.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following the Technical Manual procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment.
  • Highly skilled in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to use Service Advisor.
  • Knowledge of standard desktop and software applications such as Microsoft, Word, Excel, Outlook, e-mail and internet functions and ability to learn the required business system computer software and programs necessary for this position.
  • Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight.
  • Quickly identifies problems, evaluates potential roadblocks and risk and swiftly generates a course of action toward resolution.
