About the position

The Service Center Enterprise Application Developer position is a critical role within the Tennessee Board of Regents System Office, specifically within the Information Technology department. This position is primarily focused on the technical maintenance and enhancement of the Student and Financial Aid modules in Ellucian's Banner ERP system, utilizing Multi-Entity Processing (MEP) and the Shared Technology Platform (STP). The developer will work closely with functional users to identify their needs and problems, translating these requirements into technical specifications that guide the development of innovative solutions. This includes leveraging Banner administrative and self-service applications, as well as Banner Document Management (BDM) and various third-party systems to support and enhance business operations. The role requires a strong understanding of best practices in system analysis, design, and programming principles. The developer will be responsible for maintaining modifications and business logic while providing technical support for other student information-related projects that support the Technical Colleges of Applied Technology (TCAT). This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with occasional travel to the Central office for in-person meetings, ensuring that the developer can effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. In addition to technical responsibilities, the developer will engage in project planning, scope specification, and the development of project plans and schedules. They will also work with database and system administration teams to deploy new enterprise architectures, develop and maintain customizations and integrations, and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with functional staff and the Shared Services community. Ensuring that system documentation is current and communicating effectively with team members to meet project goals are also essential aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate business needs, policies, and procedures, federal and state regulations, and available resources to plan and implement new programs and changes.
  • Specify implementation project scope and objectives, developing project plans, priorities, and schedules.
  • Work with database and system administration to deploy new enterprise architectures.
  • Develop and maintain Banner customizations, system integrations, and interfaces between Banner and third-party systems/applications.
  • Identify system inefficiencies and recommend effective solutions to ensure system integrity and efficiency.
  • Interact with functional staff and the Shared Services community to troubleshoot issues and implement resolutions.
  • Ensure that system documentation is current.
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project goals are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience as an Information Technology Manager may substitute for the required Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of Technology experience.
