About the position

The Service Area Director of Clinical Education RN is a professional Registered Nurse responsible for directing and coordinating clinical educational and practice-related activities across the service area. This role involves supervising caregivers, collaborating with various leaders, and supporting strategic initiatives within the organization. The Director oversees clinical education for specific medical centers and plays a critical role in program development, compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring alignment with system-wide educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate clinical educational activities for all ministries in the service area.
  • Supervise assigned caregivers and collaborate with operational leaders and interdisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Oversee clinical education for Kadlec Regional Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center.
  • Manage departmental budgets and monitor activities and productivity.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs for caregivers.
  • Collaborate with leaders to review and standardize clinical/nursing policies.
  • Coordinate the hospital-wide competency validation process and documentation.
  • Provide learning materials related to competency-based orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency mandates for patient care.
  • Collaborate with system and divisional Education & Practice Directors to align programs and timelines.
  • Direct oversight of clinical onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Serve on shared governance councils and committees related to education.
  • Conduct human resource management functions, including hiring and performance appraisals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, etc.)
  • Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • 7 years of clinical nursing practice experience.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible nursing leadership roles.
  • 7 years of experience in program development and evaluation.
  • 7 years of experience working collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • 3 years of research experience (preferred).
  • 3 years of teaching adults in a healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Experience in performance improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of hospital clinical and non-clinical systems.
