About the position
At Black Bear Diners, we have been serving Good Old Fashioned Family Food since 1995. We are a fun, family-friendly concept known for our great homemade food, large portions, and for our genuine, friendly, and immediate service. We are seeking EXPERIENCED Servers at the Vancouver, WA Black Bear Diner. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced dining environment, ensuring that guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they enter until they leave. This role requires a friendly demeanor, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service. As a Server, you will take orders, serve food and beverages, and handle payments while ensuring that all guests feel welcomed and valued. You will also be expected to maintain cleanliness and organization in your work area, assist with training new staff, and collaborate effectively with kitchen and management staff to ensure smooth operations. The position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays, and offers both part-time and full-time opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and deliver them to the table promptly.
- Assist guests with menu selections and provide recommendations when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area and service stations.
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and delivery.
- Train and mentor new servers as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
Requirements
- One year of experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
- Customer service experience with a focus on guest relations.
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced family or casual dining environment preferred.
- Knowledge of service and food and beverage.
- Must have a Food Handlers Card and Alcohol Server Permit.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Must be upbeat, outgoing, and positive.
- Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge in POS system.
- Ability to work in a standing position with lots of movement around the entire facility.
- Great energy and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
