About the position

Merrick & Company is seeking a Senior Water Wastewater Project Manager to lead and manage surface water and stormwater projects within their expanding Water Practice in Colorado. This role involves marketing, directing, and managing a team of engineers and technicians, while ensuring effective project management, client interaction, and business development. The position requires a strong technical background in civil engineering, particularly in surface water and river restoration, and the ability to work with various stakeholders including public agencies and private clients.

Responsibilities

  • Market, direct, and manage a team of engineers and CAD technicians on surface water/stormwater projects.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and interface with multi-discipline professionals.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of river/stream processes, hydraulic structures, and floodplain permitting.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, government agencies, and community representatives.
  • Provide input to strategic planning for the team and identify target clients and projects.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Prepare and negotiate proposed scope of work, budget estimates, and schedules with clients.
  • Oversee internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
  • Effectively manage the financial performance and reporting requirements of assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of combined experience in surface water and river restoration design, project management, and construction phase services.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Colorado or capable of registration within six months of appointment.
  • Five years of experience in design and engineering in Colorado, particularly with large public works and drainage projects.
  • Experience with open channel waterways, streambank restoration, and storm sewer projects.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited school.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Mile High Flood District.
  • Recreational whitewater design and/or construction experience.
  • Colorado experience in civil engineering projects.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 based on experience.
