The Branch Manager's responsibilities include leading and executing activities in the Houston marketplace which achieve the branch goals related to profit, growth, distribution management, customer penetration and retention, underwriting excellence and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction for critical business functions including budgeting and business planning (short and long-term)
  • Expense management
  • Recruitment, retention and staff development
  • Performance management
  • Develops distribution strategies grounded in local broker analysis and understanding
  • Drives implementation of strategic and operational objectives
  • Works closely with the Profit Center Managers and provides direction and leadership in driving consistent profit and growth in the branch
  • Coordinates efforts with internal business partners in the areas of Underwriting, Claims, Loss Control and Human Resources to ensure operational efficiencies at the branch level
  • Management/coaching of every day relationship activities
  • Collaborate with the Profit Center Managers and other key internal stakeholders to drive results, implement process improvements and maximize efficiencies
  • Ensures effective broker management/analysis, prospecting, target account and cross-sell strategies are in place
  • Serves as the senior Starr leader in the local marketplace

Requirements

  • Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence
  • Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism
  • Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, products and services
  • Advanced knowledge of retail and wholesale distribution channels
  • Strong financial acumen is required
