About the position

The Senior Underwriter/Senior Specialist Underwriter at BITCO Corporation is responsible for evaluating commercial insurance applications to produce and underwrite new and renewal business from assigned agencies. This role involves making critical decisions regarding policy acceptance, pricing negotiations, and managing agency relationships to ensure profitable underwriting results and customer satisfaction. The position allows for a hybrid/remote work schedule with required travel to various office locations and customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Decide whether to accept, decline, or modify applications or requests to sell an insurance policy.
• Evaluate, quote, and negotiate prices on applications from new and renewal customers.
• Manage a group of agencies, including prospecting for new agencies and evaluating agency factors.
• Solicit new business and retain renewal business through effective presentations.
• Manage and develop business in an assigned territory, achieving profitable underwriting results.
• Formulate, plan, and achieve sales budgets for assigned accounts and territory.
• Maintain and promote profitable business relationships with current and prospective customer accounts.
• Coordinate, promote, and market claims, risk control, and premium audit service plans.
• Maintain knowledge of corporate, regulatory, and competitive changes in lines of business written.

Requirements

• Field Underwriting experience, preferably in Construction or Oil & Gas.
• Experience in Underwriting New & Renewal Business with a strong understanding of commercial lines policy forms and coverages.
• Ability to analyze and manage exposures, developing action plans to manage risks during a policy period.
• Experience in Agency Management, including growth, development, and maximizing opportunities.
• External Sales experience, demonstrating the ability to cultivate new business and retain current customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ISO, company and NCCI coverage forms and endorsements.
• Familiarity with Best's Underwriting Guide.
