About the position

The Senior Underwriter role at AIG focuses on driving profitable growth in the Middle Market Primary Casualty sector. This position requires a blend of technical underwriting expertise and strong relationship-building skills to create innovative solutions for complex risks. The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business, negotiating terms with brokers and clients, and expanding the broker network in the upper Midwest region. Additionally, this role includes mentoring junior underwriters and setting high standards for customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite a range of new and renewal business in Middle Market Primary Casualty.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients.
  • Generate new business by expanding the broker network and attending broker events.
  • Collaborate with AIG Distribution, territory managers, and underwriters in other business lines.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to less-experienced underwriters.
  • Set a high standard of customer service for brokers and clients.

Requirements

  • Proven underwriting experience in Guaranteed Cost and Loss Sensitive underwriting.
  • Specific knowledge and hands-on experience in NA Middle Market Casualty lines including Workers' Compensation, General Liability, and Automobile Liability.
  • Strong knowledge of middle market pricing and loss rating models.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer and sales-oriented behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
