About the position

The Large Property Executive Underwriter is responsible for independently managing and underwriting complex accounts, focusing on large single carrier and quota share business with total insured values exceeding $300 million. This role requires analytical and data-driven decision-making to evaluate risks and pricing, while also maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients to develop profitable business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of brokers/agents and clients.
  • Develops and underwrites profitable business leveraging market presence and expertise.
  • Maintains strong relationships with senior/market-leading brokers and key agents.
  • Articulates key coverage differences with a high degree of detail.
  • Provides input into business and marketing planning processes using advanced data-driven insights from portfolio analysis.
  • Participates in cross-departmental projects aimed at driving underwriting and process excellence.
  • Models effective collaboration across teams, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Shares knowledge based on technical expertise and provides external thought-leadership.
  • Mentors, coaches, and trains other underwriters and internal partners.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
  • A minimum of 7 years expected, typically 10 years or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related business experience.
  • CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and capability to define and implement necessary processes/workflows.
  • Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.
