About the position

The Senior Transportation Project Manager at J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. is responsible for leading and managing transportation construction engineering and inspection (CE&I) projects in Northern Idaho. This role involves overseeing project scope development, execution, and close-out while providing technical expertise and mentorship to staff. The position is crucial for ensuring project success and client satisfaction, while also contributing to business development efforts in the transportation sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate a team of professionals throughout project scope development, initiation to close-out following ITD and/or LHTAC requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in construction management for transportation projects, including interpreting plans, specifications, estimates, and critical path schedules.
  • Oversee all documentation and document controls for projects, including federal aid documentation.
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and contract documents for ITD and/or LHTAC review and approval.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and notify the team of necessary adjustments to maintain budget goals.
  • Attend project weekly progress meetings and assess risks and long-term schedule impacts that may influence the project budget.
  • Be responsible for project communication and updates with the team, client, and supervisor.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach support staff.
  • Support the Area Manager and Construction Manager in staff development and market sector growth.
  • Lead marketing/business development activities for transportation CE&I, tracking future opportunities and developing strategies to win them.
  • Assist in making go/no-go decisions on RFPs and RFIs, and develop partnering and teaming strategies.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and public agencies on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering.
  • A current Idaho PE license required or ability to obtain an Idaho PE license within three months.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive transportation engineering (construction management) experience.
  • Experience with ITD and/or LHTAC CE&I required.
  • Proven ability to work with others and manage project schedules and deliverables.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting multiple offices and teams.
  • Strong communication and writing skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • IQP and WAQTC certification are desired but not required.
