About The Position

Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Senior Superintendent – Mission Critical to lead large-scale, technical Data Center projects with our large projects team based in Scottsdale, AZ. Occasional nights, weekends, and project-based travel may be required. The Senior Superintendent – Mission Critical is responsible for all field operations, including coordination of subcontractors’ work and specialized mission critical systems. This includes ultimate responsibility for implementation of the Safety/Zero Harm program, supervision of all field construction work by subcontractors and self-performed work, and oversight of commissioning activities for complex MEP systems. Shares responsibility with the Project Manager for developing the project budget, participating in preconstruction, and ensuring that the project is built on time, within budget, and meets mission critical quality standards. Manages and mentors Assistant Superintendents and other field personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fifteen years or more of commercial construction field experience.
  • Five years or more of direct supervisory experience related to subcontractor management.
  • Previous or current commercial construction experience in a Superintendent role required.
  • Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, the internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
  • Ability to read plans and specs.
  • Scheduling experience sequence using industry standard software applications.
  • Experience with commissioning schedules and MEP sequencing required

  • Mission critical/data center experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and supports updates to progress and cost reports regularly to support project financial health.
  • Understands contracted scope of work with client and trade partners to minimize unnecessary change orders.
  • Participates in preconstruction planning for schedule and budget, and reviews trade scopes.
  • Ensures compliance with contract documents and mission critical quality specifications.
  • Oversees pull planning, updates, proper testing, and documentation of all systems.
  • Directs and coordinates subcontractors and internal teams for specialized systems (MEP, commissioning).
  • Leads quality assurance/control process including commissioning and turnover to client.
  • Builds strong relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
  • Mentors project team and promotes company culture through Service, Talent, and Choices
