About the position

The position provides support for the daily activities of the department, including emergency and pre-arranged activities. It involves coordinating equipment, material, and vendor services for construction, scheduled maintenance, and system restoration, while delivering accurate reporting of field activities and maintenance progress.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks annual maintenance and capital program workload and schedule.
  • Coordinates project-related efforts with Project Managers, Project Engineers, other departments, and government agencies.
  • Schedules outages for construction and maintenance projects with System Operations.
  • Provides technical construction expertise and reviews the design drawings for Substation projects for constructability.
  • Ensures that all databases for asset management and NERC compliance data are updated and maintained.
  • Assists with annual and quarterly report for WECC and NERC.
  • Assists with project retirement forms and ensures proper processing of as-built prints.
  • May be assigned to the department on-call rotation.
  • Assists in the department planning and budgeting process by identifying and justifying tool and equipment requirements.
  • Effectively manages inventory control of non-stock equipment and material.
  • May be required to assist in coordinating deliveries to warehouse or site locations.
  • Coordinates departmental procurement including equipment repair and calibration, personal protective equipment, and general office supplies.
  • Oversees Substation software contracts and upgrades.
  • Submits procurement requests (requisition, purchase order, and receipt) and reviews and approves vendor invoices for payment.
  • Maintains the asset library in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule.
  • Evaluates and recommends process improvements and integration of technologies to promote efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining a commitment to safety and system reliability.
  • May be required to review contractors work schedules to ensure contract construction work is completed in accordance with Company imposed deadlines.
  • May review and approve contractor's monthly invoices for payment.
  • May also be asked to maintain a daily log of the contractor's construction activities and prepare a weekly activity report of construction progress.
  • Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the area of specialty from an accredited school or Journeyman Level Classification in a related field or five years' experience in administrating technical programs, overseeing crews and scheduling, plus 6 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility design, construction and maintenance practices, industry concepts and standards (Substation experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and compliance regulations impacting the area of operation.
  • Candidate will be required to submit to a background check to obtain CIP access.
  • Candidate will be required to obtain OSHA 10 (minimum) within 30 days of position start date.
  • Candidate will be required to possess a valid driver's license.
  • Skills such as analytical, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication.
