About The Position

As a Senior Staff Content Designer under the Product Design team, you’ll shape the CNN experience across mobile, web, and CTV—connecting editorial excellence with product performance. With deep expertise in both content strategy and content design, you’ll define how users understand, navigate, and act across CNN’s digital ecosystem. Partnering directly with our growth and product marketing teams, you’ll use data, experimentation, and audience insights to create messaging and flows that not only inform and inspire—but also measurably drive acquisition, activation, retention, and conversion. You’ll also help lead the charge in developing content standards, defining guidelines, and educating cross-functional partners on the impact of high-quality content design on growth and user experience.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the worlds of content design, product marketing, and content strategy.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to independently make content decisions grounded in business goals and user needs
  • Proven ability to translate consumer insights, growth data, and experimentation results into actionable content strategies.
  • Expertise in crafting messaging that supports acquisition, onboarding, retention, and engagement.
  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives and collaborating with design, product, engineering, marketing, and editorial partners.
  • Experience developing, socializing, and maintaining content guidelines, systems, and frameworks.
  • Deep experience using Figma to create content.

Responsibilities

  • Be a key leader and contributor on the product design, growth, and product marketing teams, helping to create the next generation of CNN’s digital products with a strong focus on growth and user impact.
  • Develop messaging frameworks, value props, and content systems that drive comprehension, engagement, and conversion.
  • Translate complex requirements into clear, engaging, and strategically sounding content that ladders up to CNN’s business and audience goals.
  • Partner closely with across the organization to ensure messaging is effective, consistent, and aligned across the user journey.
  • Lead ideation, naming, and brainstorming initiatives—helping teams explore new opportunities rooted in user need and growth objectives.
  • Create scalable copy patterns, guidelines, and systems that enable consistent, high-quality experiences across CNN’s platforms.
  • Champion the content design discipline by mentoring junior designers and increasing cross-functional understanding of best practices.
  • Own projects from concept through execution, managing your deliverables and collaborating smoothly across teams.
