About the position

The Senior Staff Power Engineer develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed. The Senior Staff Power Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
  • Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
  • Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions.
  • Develop deployment strategies and plans.
  • Lead the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinate global deployment efforts.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
  • Solve complex problems.
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information.
  • Recommend modifications for systems.
  • Create reports and documentation.

Requirements

  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert in the area of power design.
  • Deep knowledge of DC/DC power topologies and tradeoffs.
  • Experienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products.
  • Experienced in high current, high-phase count designs for ASICs and GPUs.
  • Experienced in PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradients.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and CAD layout tools.
  • Proficient with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE.
  • Knowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power Delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present to various audiences effectively.
