About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, ServiceNow is responsible for writing and maintaining code within the ServiceNow platform to implement features, enhance performance, and reduce technical debt. This role involves collaboration with Product Management to design solutions, participation in Agile planning, and providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers. The engineer will also contribute to product designs, manage ServiceNow enhancements, and ensure adherence to technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Management to understand customer challenges and design viable solutions.
  • Recommend solutions to improve processes, technology, and interfaces.
  • Foresee capacity requirements and identify limitations.
  • Provide input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
  • Contribute to product and solution designs for critical issues.
  • Build across multiple products in ServiceNow based on stakeholder needs.
  • Understand technical architecture and write software and automated tests.
  • Perform troubleshooting and investigations as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance of deployed products.
  • Mentor less experienced software engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Stay updated on new software technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to technical strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Design, code, test, correct, and document ServiceNow scripts and workflows.
  • Lead reviews of colleagues' work and manage ServiceNow enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Certified in ServiceNow system administration and/or application development (CSA, CAD).
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working experience with Agile application development practices.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow development tools, including Studio, Flow Designer, Service Portal, and Virtual Agent.
  • Expertise in building and managing Scripted REST APIs for external system integrations.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Application Development, including creating and maintaining custom applications.
  • Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines for ServiceNow development, using tools like Git is a plus.
  • Strong skills in JavaScript, Glide Scripting, and API Development.
