About the position

The Search Team at TikTok is responsible for developing and maintaining the platform's search engine, ensuring users have the best search experience possible. This role involves optimizing search quality through modern machine learning and information retrieval techniques, as well as building core systems and algorithms related to query understanding and result ranking. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to creating an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Optimize the searching quality to provide TikTok's users the best search experience
• Combine understanding of product objectives with modern machine learning and information retrieval techniques to improve search quality
• Build core systems and algorithms including query understanding, result ranking, and query recommendation
• Potentially mentor and lead peers depending on experience

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant majors
• At least 4+ years of experience in developing and implementing large-scale consumer-facing services/products and/or building backend services for large-scale consumer-facing applications
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Golang
• Effective team communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge in search, recommendation, ranking, or ads
• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, backend, large-scale systems, or data science
• Experience with Big Data Frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink
