About The Position

Praecipio is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join their team. Praecipio helps businesses thrive by integrating people, processes, and technology, focusing on Process frameworks, IT Service Management (ITSM), DevOps, and Enterprise Service Management (ESM). As a Platinum Atlassian partner, they architect solutions using their expertise with Atlassian products. With over 30 years of experience through their acquisition of Avant Systems Group, Praecipio combines Canadian expertise with North American reach. They operate with a remote-first culture and have a physical office in Winnipeg. The Senior Software Developer will be a key technical contributor and client-facing expert, owning end-to-end delivery on development projects, supporting client engagements, and contributing expertise across the full software development lifecycle. There will be opportunities for technical leadership and expansion into adjacent consulting areas.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of software development experience, including senior or technical lead roles.
  • Expert-level Java EE development — this is the core of our client delivery work.
  • Experience with PHP/Laravel, JavaScript, C/C++, and Linux/Unix environments.
  • Proficiency designing, consuming, and producing RESTful web services.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC, Agile principles, TDD, CI/CD.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can explain complex ideas clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.).
  • 3–5 years of experience in enterprise application architecture.
  • Prior IT consulting or client services experience.
  • Familiarity with AI tooling, LLM integrations, or prompt engineering.
  • Atlassian certifications or Marketplace add-on development experience.
  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java EE applications and integrations for our client portfolio.
  • Lead or contribute to end-to-end development of Atlassian Marketplace add-ons, including requirements, architecture, configuration, and custom development.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define technical requirements, estimates, and solution design.
  • Contribute to proposals, Statements of Work (SOW), and RFP responses.
  • Support project delivery in partnership with Project Managers — planning, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Participate in the sales cycle by providing technical credibility and solution design input.
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior developers on the team.
  • Eventually contribute to our Atlassian Consulting and AI/Claude practice areas.
