About the position

The position involves organizing and supervising the tasks of the Services Group, focusing on the needs of department heads, end users, and directives from the CIO. The role requires strong management skills, the ability to multi-task across various projects, and effective communication with department heads, judges, and staff. The individual must interpret various requests into efficient use of technology, human resources, and budgeted funding.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the Services Group in developing and documenting hardware specifications.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, asset/inventory management, validating invoices, and responding to audits.
  • Deliver end-user support, incident tracking and reporting, help desk, and related support services.
  • Develop and deliver training to IT staff and other County employees.
  • Provide audio video, surveillance, and structured cabling installation, support, and services.
  • Hold staff meetings to discuss current workload, outstanding issues, and ongoing projects.
  • Work with the CIO, Senior Network Administrator, and Senior Systems Analyst to organize and distribute workload.
  • Brief the CIO with progress updates as needed.
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing major projects.
  • Prepare memos and status reports of ongoing projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Plan, design, document, and implement capital improvements projects.
  • Assist with capital and operations budget preparation.
  • Develop specifications for and evaluate responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and testing of network extensions for services distribution.
  • Be on-call and work overtime and/or weekends/holidays as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Four years of management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse clients and staff.
  • Demonstrated success with administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and supervise teams and projects.
  • Experience and ability to teach or instruct others.
  • Experience prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field.
  • Previous experience managing a diverse group of ten or more professionals for at least two years.
  • Previous recent experience working for a government agency.
