About the position

The Senior SEO Editor will play a crucial role in driving audience growth across all search platforms for Reach's editorial team in New York. This position involves creating and maintaining SEO content, providing recommendations on best practices, and keeping the news team informed about trends and algorithm changes. The role requires a proactive approach to content planning and the ability to generate engaging, traffic-driving content.

Responsibilities

  • Drive audience growth across all search platforms including Google organic and Discover.
  • Identify traffic driving opportunities.
  • Create and maintain entity, tag, and topic pages.
  • Make recommendations to the news team on SEO best practices.
  • Keep the news team updated on trends and algorithm changes affecting their content.
  • Create SEO guides and training material, updating as needed.
  • Assist with forward planning content for high traffic and seasonal topics or events.
  • Generate evergreen content ideas optimized for search.

Requirements

  • Proven track record as an SEO editor in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO and best practices from a dedicated SEO position.
  • Ability to create content that drives engagement and guide the team in doing so.
  • Passion for digital storytelling and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with SEO tools including Google Analytics, SEMRush, and Google Search Console.
  • Excellent time management skills for efficient content planning.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trending topics and ideas for engaging content.
