About the position

The Senior Scrum Master at Marriott Global Information Security is responsible for leading project execution and delivery using Agile methodologies, particularly the SAFe Agile framework. This role is crucial for delivering security initiatives within a multi-year, cross-functional program, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while aligning with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with a proven track record in both Agile and waterfall project management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and verifies project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities pertaining to the Marriott Global Information Security organization
  • Influences and coaches Agile teams on best practices
  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Serves multiple information security initiatives and Agile teams simultaneously
  • Directs the work of Agile teams, including dependent and cross-functional teams
  • Provides cross-functional visibility into status, resourcing needs, granular requirements, dates, and escalations for assigned projects
  • Functions as a key escalation point to Agile teams to resolve issues
  • Partners with Product Owners in Program Increment planning and delivery
  • Supports the Product Owner in managing the Initiative roadmap and product backlog
  • Communicates status, actions, risks, and solutions clearly
  • Manages internal and external projects from inception to successful implementation
  • Adapts to a fast-paced, often ambiguous and event-driven environment
  • Aligns change management processes and strategies with projects
  • Produces and presents project-related materials as necessary
  • Serves as a liaison with Global Information Security and other departments
  • Tracks and reports project status
  • Submits reports in a timely manner
  • Promotes the documenting of project progress accurately
  • Provides input and assistance to other teams regarding projects
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports and presentations
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
  • Determines priorities, schedules, plans, and necessary resources to ensure project completion
  • Collaborates with internal partners and stakeholders to support business strategies
  • Communicates concepts in a clear and persuasive manner

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in project management
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, particularly SAFe
  • Experience with waterfall methodologies
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in facilitating Agile ceremonies
