About the position

The Senior Research Analyst at Montgomery College plays a crucial role in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, managing research initiatives and ensuring data accuracy to support the College's strategic goals. This position involves project management, data analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to produce insightful reports and visualizations that inform decision-making within the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Project manager for research initiatives, defining project scope with stakeholders, establishing project goals, and determining tasks and resource requirements.
  • Extract data from the College's information systems and external sources to support strategic planning and respond to data requests.
  • Ensure data accuracy and timely updates of institutional research data for reporting requirements.
  • Design, plan, organize, manage, and conduct varied research projects from inception to completion.
  • Assist with enrollment projections to inform the budget cycle by analyzing student enrollment data.
  • Serve as project lead and consultant on special research projects, guiding research design and data analysis.
  • Lead collegewide data governance initiatives and collaborate with IT for data integrity and quality.
  • Represent the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at internal and external meetings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a social science related program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in querying and retrieving information from large databases and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated competence with statistical analysis software (SPSS, SAS, R) and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word, Publisher, Power BI).
  • Experience in project management practices related to data collection and governance.
  • Excellent consultative skills to engage with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of web survey platforms for conducting survey research.
  • Experience with interactive data visualizations via Tableau/Power BI.
