About the position

Sandy Spring Bank is currently hiring for a Senior Relationship Manager. This position is responsible for building, expanding and growing a portfolio of larger Revenue Middle Market company clients and acts as the primary contact for clients orchestrating a team of specialized partners supporting the client's relationship. Developing new business for the bank by designing integrated banking and financing solutions tailored to the client's specific needs with special focus on margin and relationship profitability. Achieving and exceeding Sales goals across several categories including credit, deposits, Treasury, fee income, margins, credit quality and referral generation to other business lines within the bank relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completing outbound phone calls and in-person calls with prospects as well as assigned relationship clients.
  • Participates in joint business calls with solutions specialists from other business lines within Sandy Spring Bank and Sandy Spring Bancorp subsidiaries.
  • Responsible for developing loan business with new and established clients.
  • Works closely with assigned Commercial Portfolio Manager, Senior Credit Officer as well as other credit risk partners to negotiate and structure financing solutions and credit transactions.
  • Maintains contact with client throughout the approval and settlement process to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Complies with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiates complex credit agreements on behalf of the bank ensures a smooth client onboarding experience.
  • Responsible for generating non-interest income for the bank through cross-selling of fee-based products.
  • Generates new deposits through needs-based selling to new business prospects and existing corporate clients.
  • Partners with Commercial Portfolio Manager and Senior Credit Officer to be mindful of loan delinquencies and/or future payoffs.
  • Acts as the client's trusted financial advisor and banking partner.
  • Maintains high level of professionalism and courtesy with clients at all times.
  • Responds to calls and messages promptly.
  • Works with all internal partners as needed to resolve any difficulties or complaints.
  • Maintains consistent contact with clients through a structured quarterly calling plan as well as an annual review process.
  • Conducts strategic conversations with C Executives to understand both personal and professional goals.
  • Utilizes needs-based solution offering to enable clients meet their goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a commercial lending environment.
  • Broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in commercial banking with an emphasis on credit and lending principles across various industry verticals.
  • Thorough familiarity with related laws and regulations surrounding commercial banking relationships.
  • Demonstrated sales success in business development.
  • Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills to maintain positive rapport with internal bank partners.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate various situations.
  • Experience with varied industry M&A transactions preferred.
  • Experience with corporate finance deals also preferable.
  • Capital Markets experience and Advisory experience is a plus.
