About the position

The Senior Quality Manager at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for leading the quality organization with a strategic and tactical approach. This role involves ensuring compliance with quality standards, conducting audits, and developing quality assurance systems to support national security missions. The position requires collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the quality organization from both a tactical and strategic approach
  • Performs or confirms production and quality control audits
  • Assures compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards such as AS9100 regulations
  • Conducts vendor evaluation audits to determine qualifications
  • Conducts training on quality assurance systems
  • Delegates assignments to others for developing solutions to complex problems
  • Develops, implements and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems
  • Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating products
  • Participates in reviewing engineering designs to contribute quality requirements
  • Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel for efficient operation
  • Maintains regular contact with internal and external customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Interacts with all levels of management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA standards certification may be required within 30 days of hire
  • Demonstrated understanding of composites technology
  • Knowledge of workmanship standards and drawing interpretation
  • Understanding of industry standards and contractual quality requirements
  • Experience with configuration management and change management procedures
  • Skill in using PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Skill in using basic inspection/measurement tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of documentation and production paperwork

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a defense or intelligence environment
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of government regulations related to quality assurance
