About the position

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Senior SQE) at BAE Systems in Anniston, Alabama, is responsible for overseeing supplier quality interactions specifically related to electrical assemblies and electronics. This role involves investigating and resolving supplier quality issues, conducting defect investigations, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior SQE will enforce purchase order requirements, manage supplier non-conformance, and mentor junior SQEs, ensuring high-quality standards are met across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve supplier quality problems through defect investigations and trend analysis.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance supplier quality.
  • Conduct containment efforts for supplier non-conformances and maintain traceability of actions.
  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming products and assess suppliers' corrective actions.
  • Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers.
  • Evaluate First Article Inspections per AS9102 requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Drive a 'Zero Defect' mentality within the supply base and implement A3 problem-solving practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 4 years of related work experience or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in the manufacturing process of electronics and/or electrical assemblies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and GD&T.
  • Experience with Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems and AS9102B First Article Requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a Defense Prime Contract environment.
  • Experience with product line validation, test plans, and product qualification.
  • Specific experience with electrical assemblies for the Defense Industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools.
