SENIOR PSYCHIATRIST (SUPERVISOR), CORRECTIONAL AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES (SAFETY)

About the position

The Senior Psychiatrist Supervisor provides general supervision of Staff Psychiatrists and other mental health staff, directs specialized psychiatric assessment/treatment programs, participates in the hiring of new Psychiatrists, provides consultation regarding clinical issues to custodial staff, and performs special assignments as requested by the Chief Psychiatrist. This position is located at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Kings County, California, and is part of the California Correctional Health Care Services. Employees in this class are eligible for a pay differential of 15% of their monthly base pay if they provide direct patient care more than 50% of the pay period.

Responsibilities

• Provide general supervision of Staff Psychiatrists and other mental health staff.
• Direct specialized psychiatric assessment/treatment programs.
• Participate in the hiring of new Psychiatrists.
• Provide consultation regarding clinical issues to custodial staff.
• Perform special assignments as requested by the Chief Psychiatrist.

Requirements

• Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
• Meet the Minimum Qualifications for the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor) classification.
