About the position

The Senior Project Manager for Water/Wastewater will lead and manage complex engineering projects within the environmental consulting sector, focusing on water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse facilities. This role involves significant responsibility for project budgets, schedules, and quality standards, while also driving business development and client relationship management. The position is remote and requires a high level of creativity and judgment in planning and executing engineering programs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on projects of significant size and complexity, with full responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations/risk, and quality standards.
  • Negotiate critical and controversial issues with top-level staff of other organizations.
  • Supervise teams with multiple engineering or professional disciplines.
  • Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a far-reaching impact on extensive business development, engineering, and relative activities of the company.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive engineering programs and activities.
  • Initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other industry organizations, requiring skill in negotiation of critical issues.
  • Prepare proposals, conduct interviews, and negotiate contracts with clients after selection.
  • Engage in proactive marketing and business development, including long-term client relationship building and project positioning.
  • Collaborate with client management personnel.
  • Manage internal staff mentoring, training, and reviews.
  • Identify the need for and direct vendors and subconsultants performing services on projects.
  • Participate in professional associations, including presentations of technical papers and membership in technical committees.
  • Recruit new employees and participate in the selection process.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • 15+ years of water and wastewater project experience in the field of Environmental Consulting Engineering with an emphasis on hydraulics, physical, chemical and biological treatment processes and treatment plant design for water, wastewater, and reuse.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing small- to large-sized projects during the planning, design, and construction phases of water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse infrastructure and treatment projects.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of issues related to water, wastewater, stormwater and reuse systems, including master planning, conveyance, and treatment plant design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Business development, proposal, and interview experience.
  • Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Experience managing projects with technicians using Revit and/or AutoCAD including AutoCAD 3D for deliverables.
