About the position

The Senior Programmer Analyst - Application DBA position at the Office of Information Technology in Maine is a senior-level role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining complex databases and data analytic solutions for MaineDOT. The role emphasizes customer service, accountability, and responsiveness, requiring a self-motivated individual to work both independently and collaboratively within a technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Support MaineDOT Data Warehouse solution and other MaineDOT systems.
  • Assist with managing COTS implementations and troubleshooting software application issues.
  • Communicate frequently with MaineDOT Business Partners, AppDev peers, Software Vendors, and other MaineIT Technical Staff.
  • Analyze issues and design solutions for various projects.
  • Resolve technical issues to provide system functionality and data integration.

Requirements

  • Four years of computer programming experience utilizing higher level languages, including two years at the Programmer Analyst level or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, including two years at the Programmer Analyst level or equivalent (a Master's Degree may substitute for one year of programming experience).
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle databases (19c or higher) administration and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Analytics Cloud.
  • Skills in Data Modeling and Data Analysis.
  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (ANSI/PL/SQL).
  • A strong desire to provide excellent customer service.
