About the position
The Deputy Chief position at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) involves overseeing laboratory operations within a healthcare organization, specifically in the field of forensic toxicology. The role requires managing personnel, implementing research and method development, and serving as a subject matter expert for military drug testing. The Deputy Chief will also be responsible for reviewing analytical data and making informed decisions based on scientific evidence.
Responsibilities
- Direct laboratory operations and supervise analysts, technicians, and administrative support personnel.
- Introduce ideas for method development and improvement.
- Implement research and method development ideas post completion.
- Perform review of analytical data and make decisions based on scientific evidence.
- Provide screening and confirmation data, quantitative data, and corrective action measures.
- Participate in research and method development programs as an analyst.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the military drug testing community.
- Lead research and analytical projects and supervise junior personnel.
- Schedule personnel and equipment resources for laboratory operations.
- Chair research teams and develop research improvements.
Requirements
- Master's Degree with 8 years of experience in forensic toxicology.
- At least four years of specialized experience in forensic toxicology.
- Knowledge and experience in filing techniques and preparing technical documentation using software like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to interact with senior level leadership and high-level military and civilian personnel.
Nice-to-haves
- ABFT certification is preferred.
