About The Position

The World Oil group of companies consists of 16 consolidated entities and 7 affiliated entities. The Company started the business over 80 years ago with a gas station in Los Angeles and now owns 40 gas stations throughout California. The Company is also engaged in the manufacture and sale of refined petroleum products, the production of asphalt-based roofing and paving products, the transportation of various petroleum products, collects and recycles used antifreeze and waste oil, performs environmental services, and owns commercial real estate. This position will be the key liaison with all departments across the World Oil organization to ensure procurement processes and procedures are in place to optimize the company’s buying power by increasing cost efficiencies without forgoing quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning system
  • Experience with procurement software
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 10 years in a procurement department
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with key suppliers through steady communication to ensure service and quality levels are adequate and up to company expectations and ensuring cost is optimized.
  • Evaluate and track supplier performance to ensure they meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Provide supplier analysis including key metrics and benchmarks.
  • Evaluate, select, and establish new relationships with suppliers to expand our sourcing platform
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers ensuring pricing and terms and conditions are favorable for the company
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators to drive supplier performance
  • Review requests for new suppliers to determine whether the supplier should be included as a preferred provider
  • Review documentation provided by new suppliers to ensure proper information is received to establish an account
  • Oversee and manage the competitive bid processes (RFP’s, RFI’s, and RFQ’s)
  • Review proposals and manage contracts, including pricing, terms of agreement and service requirements
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Procurement team to support and achieve department goals
  • Coordinate with the Legal department with managing the supplier contracts, including terminations, extensions, and renewals
  • Collaborate with all departments within the organization to assess and meet their procurement requirements
  • Routinely visit the various office locations/terminals to assess their needs and assist with forecasting requirements
  • Develop and enhance processes and procedures across all companies within the organization to streamline the procurement process and leverage our buying power by consolidating procurement requests
  • Oversee the ordering of materials, supplies, equipment, and services
  • Review requisitions to ensure orders are necessary, accurate and consistent with company policy
  • Analyze spend to determine cost reduction opportunities by leveraging volume and optimizing the supplier base
  • Review procurement processes to ensure continuous improvement and make recommendations as required
  • Manage and monitor the supplies and other office necessities and services for the corporate office
  • Manage the online maintenance service desk, ensuring tickets are addressed and rectified
  • Perform additional duties and assist with projects as assigned
  • Actively support the Company’s commitment to quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement
  • Supervise Procurement Administrator and Procurement Specialist.
  • Responsible for training, developing and mentoring staff, including preparing performance evaluations.
