About the position

The Senior Process Architect will lead the development of pharmaceutical and life science projects, creating world-class designs for clients in the Life Sciences sector. This role involves overseeing the project team throughout the design and construction process, integrating process systems into architectural concepts while adhering to budget constraints and client needs. The architect will also be responsible for managing project schedules, scopes, and budgets, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Develop, modify, and review production drawings for Life Science facilities.
  • Participate in the development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning, and construction planning.
  • Manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply knowledge of FDA, cGMP, and industry practices in project designs.
  • Develop designs that integrate equipment, processes, and people in new or renovated facilities.
  • Identify operational efficiency and optimization to reduce facility footprint.
  • Compile studies and reports, and write specifications.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data.
  • Oversee construction administration and resolve design-related installation issues.
  • Lead field inspections and measurements for clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts and manage key pursuits.
  • Lead development of cost proposals and manage project budgets and performance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program.
  • 8 years of architectural experience, preferably in consulting.
  • Registered Architect preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in standard architectural techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, BIM (Revit), Adobe Suites, and 3D rendering programs.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading design for large projects and delegating tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Life Sciences industry including Animal Health, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
