About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced Senior OSP Designer to join our growing Utility Design Engineering (UDE) team! Our UDE team works with industry-leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services. Our design professionals have years of experience working in the fiber optic, coax and copper construction field preparing for outside (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) installations. As leaders within the industry, we work with communities on broadband deficit solutions, deploying fiber to upgrade aging technology to 5G, and addressing utility relocations. Our design services include fiber-to-tower, Enterprise, FTTH, oDAS and iDAS, and distributed architecture. Come join our team!

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands‑on OSP fiber design experience, including leadership on complex projects.
  • Strong client communication skills and ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with FTTH design, road move engineering, and route modification work.
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber design theory, splicing, BOM development, and constructability.
  • Proficiency with OSP design tools, GIS/CAD platforms, and database‑centric environments.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical and client‑facing lead for OSP fiber design projects.
  • Lead and oversee complex aerial and underground fiber network designs, including route analysis and constructability.
  • Perform final QA/QC review and validation of design deliverables prior to client submission.
  • Develop and review BOMs, splice documentation, route modifications, and construction plans.
  • Support FTTH deployments, road move engineering, and large‑scale network modification programs.
  • Coordinate design constraints and permitting considerations with municipalities, utilities, railroads, and environmental agencies.
  • Mentor and guide OSP Designers; support training as workflows and client standards evolve.
  • Assist with scope review, fee support, and technical input during project planning.
  • Utilize GIS, CAD, and database‑driven design systems to support efficient project execution.
  • Support multiple project teams while maintaining consistency in quality and delivery.
