About the position

The Senior Network Engineer role is to build and implement network systems across the enterprise. This includes configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network infrastructure, associated software, and communication links. This person will troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. As a Senior, this person will be expected to train and mentor junior members of the team. Vendor relationship management is also a must. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all deployments meet ReliaQuest standards, which include scalability and redundancy. This is a great opportunity for a network professional with established interest in security, cloud, and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Configuration of firewalls, to include routing requirements and policy implementation.
  • Scheduling upgrades and collaborating with the internal IT team on network optimization.
  • Securing network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access.
  • Support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and/or participating in professional organizations.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
  • Upgrading data network equipment to latest stable firmware releases.
  • Configuration of routing and switching equipment.
  • Remote troubleshooting and fault finding.
  • Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network related issues through a ticketing system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with enterprise networking environments
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to technical and non-technical personnel, including senior management
  • Proven experiences developing processes and procedures according to industry best practices
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco devices and software
  • Hands-on firewall experience to include centrally managed devices
  • Experience with PAN-OS is also a plus
  • Advanced knowledge in VPN Technologies, Routing protocols, L2 switching, Data Center switching, platforms, and unique protocols, Wireless Networking, Redundancy protocols, TCP/IP as well as TCP/IP services and ports, Networking concepts/components, Network monitoring protocols
  • Soft skills in-line with internal and external customer relations
  • Ability to document/write technical instructions including standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Nice-to-haves

  • Network automation experience is a plus
  • Professional level industry certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP
  • Palo Alto or Cloud based certifications are also a plus
  • Proven strength in Palo Alto firewalls and PAN-OS
  • Experience with AWS and GCP
  • Experience with Cisco switching and routing technologies
  • Experience with Aruba Central and CPPM
