About the position

The Senior Mechanical Designer at PeopleReady is responsible for creating designs and technical documentation for mechanical devices and equipment. This role involves customer interaction to establish machinery requirements, managing complete machine assemblies, and ensuring design consistency across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automated equipment and will work both independently and collaboratively with various departments.

Responsibilities

• Create designs and technical documentation for mechanical devices and equipment.
• Interact with customers to establish machinery requirements and determine automated processes.
• Travel to customer facilities to discuss and understand manufacturing processes and concepts.
• Design and manage complete machine assemblies while adhering to company design procedures.
• Deliver design presentations to internal and customer teams to ensure all requirements are met.
• Track design progress of multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously and ensure design consistency.
• Create documentation for the machine build process.
• Cooperate with other departments such as Machining, Welding, Purchasing, and Assembly.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• Complex problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD software).
• Desirable skills in AutoCAD, Macros, Visual Basic, and Excel.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Knowledge of machining and assembly processes.
• Background check required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with industrial automated equipment.
• Familiarity with gear reduction, servo, and VFD drives.
