About The Position

The Senior Technician role at Safe Harbor Marinas involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various types of boats. This position requires a deep understanding of marine systems and components, utilizing diagnostic equipment for testing and repairs. Senior Technicians also play a crucial role in training new technicians and executing annual decommissioning and recommissioning procedures for stored vessels, ensuring high standards of service and safety are met.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Marine Technical school training preferred.
• 10 years + experience preferred.
• ABYC Master Technician preferred.
• Multiple certifications across engine brands.
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Basic boat handling skills preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Significant experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
• Use diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment.
• Provide expert technical knowledge and experience to assist in training other teammates.
• Work closely with the Service Manager to provide accurate and detailed work orders.
• Conduct thorough assessments prior to starting jobs, including budgeted time and time frame for completion.
• Source parts as required for repairs and maintenance.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing, and water systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components, including gas and diesel engines.
• Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets.
• Promote and encourage a safe working environment.
• Provide timely updates and exceed member satisfaction.
• Mentor technicians new to the field or SHM.
