About The Position

This position provides project management responsibility for procurement-wide initiatives combined with responsibilities for major sourcing initiatives, cost savings programs, supplier transitions, and strategic procurement projects that drive business growth and operational efficiencies. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to influence across business units, coordinate internal and external stakeholder resources, and serve as a mentor and example of best-in-class procurement and project management practices. Additional responsibilities include leadership of the year-round interns, and oversight of some procurement communications functions.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Procurement, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5-7+ years of proven procurement and project management experience delivering complex, cross-functional sourcing projects
  • Demonstrated success in managing timelines and resources effectively
  • Experience in CPG/Food industry, manufacturing, or similar procurement environment preferred
  • Strong category management and sourcing expertise across multiple spend categories
  • PMP or equivalent Project Management certification preferred
  • Strong organizational and detail management capabilities with ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business units and geographies
  • Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with data-driven decision making
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Microsoft Office Suite, and procurement systems
  • Familiarity with JIRA, ERP systems (SAP preferred), e-sourcing platforms, and spend analytics tools
  • AI literacy and functional experience with AI preferred
  • Deep understanding of procurement best practices
  • Knowledge of supply market dynamics and supplier landscape
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in relevant categories
  • Understanding of innovation processes and new product development timelines
  • Ability to travel periodically as required (estimated 3-5 Trips Per Year)
  • Travel for Tyson facility visits as needed and industry conferences

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end procurement projects including cost savings initiatives, supplier transitions, new product launches, and spec changes
  • Build and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Track milestones, dependencies, and deliverables across sourcing, R&D, quality, operations, and finance
  • Drive accountability across stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget execution
  • Standardize project management tools, templates, and reporting within procurement
  • Assemble and guide procurement project teams, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively across Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, Quality, and Sales to solve sourcing problems and implement procurement changes
  • Monitor progress, resolve conflicts, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Report project status and issues regularly to stakeholders and procurement leadership
  • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels and with external supplier partners
  • Build strong relationships with business unit leaders to understand strategic priorities
  • Serve as procurement advocate and consultant to business stakeholders
  • Coordinate supplier introductions and capability presentations to business units
  • Act as a procurement point of contact for assigned direct materials projects and assist with the ingestion and translation business needs — innovation, cost targets, service levels — into procurement strategies
  • Assist in ensuring direct procurement is embedded early in innovation & product development pipelines
  • Facilitate alignment between business priorities and sourcing decisions
  • Shared responsibility for management of Procurement Communications Function
  • Responsibilities include facilitating internal procurement communications, external procurement communications, Procurement SharePoint site, and Procurement events.
