About the position

This position is responsible for creating and managing golf development opportunities in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) with a focus on increasing participation among local residents, particularly underrepresented groups and juniors. The role involves overseeing competitive golf initiatives, supporting the Masters Tournament, and fostering community relationships to enhance the golfing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute golf initiatives to increase participation among juniors and underrepresented groups in the CSRA.
  • Supervise the management company running the Augusta Municipal Golf Course.
  • Develop programming in collaboration with Augusta Tech and the First Tee of Augusta to retain interest in golf.
  • Manage the facility budget for the Community Golf Initiative and ensure partner organizations are compliant.
  • Provide recommendations for long-range planning and capital investments in Community Golf projects.
  • Liaise with local golf stakeholders to improve the golfing environment in Augusta.
  • Build relationships with high school athletic directors to support publicly funded golf opportunities.
  • Serve on the DCP Task Force to manage domestic qualifying activities.
  • Evaluate and implement MTF work processes for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee sponsor activation at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course during the Masters Tournament.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for the DCP National Finals competition.
  • Organize the onsite participant experience for the DCP National Finals in collaboration with THQ staff.
  • Drive the development of elite golf programming by managing relationships with local colleges.
  • Create and maintain Community Golf documents and manuals to streamline event procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to use financial analysis for strategic operational opportunities.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Maps or similar software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, or related field.
  • PGA or LPGA professional Class-A status.
  • Minimum of 5 years of golf facility management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Golf and competition administration.
