About the position

The Senior Legal Contract Specialist performs a wide variety of duties relating to preparation and review of contracts and related documents in support of legal requirements and AdventHealth policies. This role involves drafting, editing, and reviewing various agreements, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The position is integral to maintaining relationships and providing outstanding customer service within the legal framework of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, edits, and reviews employment agreements, professional services agreements, amendments, letters of intent, medical director agreements, call agreements, administrative services agreements, memoranda, and/or other documents for attorneys and internal stakeholders.
  • Receives edits, business terms, and proposed redlined changes to documents, including negotiating with third parties and internal clients.
  • Communicates with regional/divisional executives, physicians, lawyers, and other stakeholders regarding status of legal negotiations and/or documents.
  • Redlines and tracks changes to documents, creates comparison documents, and prepares execution-ready documents.
  • Reviews federal and state regulations/statutes related to healthcare, federal contracting, and grants in the healthcare sector to monitor changes and assist with compliance to those changes.
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with colleagues and executives.
  • Maintains reports on physician and provider contracting, including but not limited to employment agreements and medical directorships.
  • Adheres to federal, state and local regulations (including HIPAA) as they pertain to assigned tasks.
  • Maintains or exceeds legal standards and departmental requirements as they pertain to assigned tasks.
  • Ensures all correspondence and documents have a professional appearance and are organized in a clear, concise and professional manner with correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Understands the corporate compliance review workflow; software program(s); where documents reside in the contract management system; and the life cycle of contract initiation, development, completion, and execution.
  • Takes initiative and implements performance improvement ideas and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to use discretion when discussing research, personnel, and/or patient related confidential matters.
  • Ability to independently make decisions in a confident, responsible, and proficient manner.
  • Ability to learn quickly and commit to process improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Self-motivator, quick thinker, and strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of suite of Microsoft products.

Nice-to-haves

  • JD or Master's degree.
  • Paralegal certificate.
  • 5 years of related experience.
