As a Senior Human Resource Consultant, you will have an opportunity to have a positive impact on Human Resource (HR) Operations and AOC’s most valuable resource – our employees. You will consult with all levels of employees at the AOC providing information that helps employees make the most of their opportunities as well as advising supervisors and managers in employee relations and performance management. In addition, you will be assigned as a designated lead in areas such as reasonable accommodation, policies, classification, compensation, or any other HR specialty area. This is a unique opportunity to not only impact the AOC, but the entire judicial branch of state government. With over 420 employees, an FY 25-27 operating budget of approximately $338 million, and an expanding book of business, the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts is looking for two seasoned HR professionals to provide expert level consultation to the organization and the Office of Human Resources as we strengthen our HR related policies, processes, and practices. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with major study in human resource management, public administration, industrial psychology, or closely related field; AND: Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in consulting on human resources issues.
  • At least two (2) of these years must be independently providing advice to supervisors and managers.

Nice To Haves

  • Public sector human resource generalist experience with the most desirable experience being with a Washington State government organization.
  • Experience leading and coaching lower-level human resources staff.
  • Experience consulting on the most complex human resource issues.
  • Experience working independently to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Experience in providing risk-based advice and options to managers and supervisors.
  • Expert level experience in one or more of the specific duties listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Providing expert level consultation to agency executives, managers, supervisors, and staff in all areas of human resources.
  • Consulting on protected leave, performance management, reasonable accommodation, and interpreting and applying relevant policies, rules, and state and federal employment laws.
  • More complex work in employee performance.
  • Reviewing and updating policies.
  • Working within our unique classification and compensation systems.
  • Providing guidance to lower level human resources staff.
  • Analyzing proposed legislation.
  • Managing industrial insurance claims.
  • Producing ad hoc reports and HR data analytics.
  • Developing and delivering training on a wide-range of human resource topics to a diverse audience.
  • Conducting misconduct investigations.
  • Providing input and assistance in ensuring the human resources team is organized in a way to best serve the organization.
