About the position
The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist will manage grants, contracts, and clinical trial agreements from various sponsors, ensuring compliance and accuracy in pre-award and post-award functions. This role involves reviewing proposals, negotiating agreements, and coordinating with departments to meet award terms from acceptance to close-out.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an expert advisor to faculty and departments for inquiries and concerns.
- Provide official proposal review to check for errors and completeness according to sponsor requirements.
- Coordinate timeline for proposal submissions and submit final approved proposals to funding agencies.
- Negotiate legal terms and conditions for industry-sponsored clinical trial agreements.
- Conduct award analysis and account set-up post-award.
- Review and submit scientific progress reports and administrative requests.
- Update department information systems to maintain accurate records.
- Promote safety and communicate effectively within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Care, Public Administration or related field.
- 3 years of progressive experience in grants or contracts related to biomedical research or healthcare programs.
- Working knowledge of NIH Grants Policy Statement, FAR and DFAR clauses, and OMB Circulars.
- Basic algebra and statistics skills.
- Critical human relations and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Experience in a university or medical center setting.
- Knowledge of HBOC Trendstar.
