About the position

As a Senior Fixed Income Client Portfolio and Product Manager you will be responsible for representing our active fixed income mutual funds and ETFs both internally and externally as one of the foremost authorities in the domain. You will also be aligned to a specific fixed income investment team, such as Investment Grade or High Yield Corporates, Municipals, Rates or one of the other teams. You’ll integrate with the team to enable you to bring more specific expertise to the product business and clients. You will play a critical part in further developing Vanguard’s fixed income ecosystem with analysis, education, and content creation that will cement Vanguard’s position as the industry leader in fixed income. You will also be integral in ensuring our product line is world class, not only in terms of what we offer, but how each of our products are functioning and how we communicate about them to clients. You will leverage your experience to level-up the existing team and help scale its expertise across the organization. You will establish yourself as a credible, collaborative business partner to critical stakeholders across the organization including investment leaders, portfolio managers, sales executives, and members of the executive team. As you achieve success in this role you will further accelerate Vanguard’s success and help set up the firm to continue to deliver industry-leading value to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as an investment expert both internally and externally in the industry.
  • Provides investment support and guidance to relationship management and sales teams; is regularly called upon to participate in meetings with Vanguard's largest and most strategic clients.
  • Acts as a Vanguard ambassador through media interviews and industry events as required.
  • Supports analyses of investment product issues confronting Vanguard's product line-up.
  • Prepares and presents strategic analysis and recommendations to senior management at various forums.
  • Develops and maintains key internal partner relationships across the organization.
  • Leverages client and sales team feedback to support product health assessments and drive ongoing product improvements and positioning.
  • Attends and presents at industry conferences and client specific events related to the product category of focus.
  • Acts as a Vanguard spokesperson for the product category with the press and industry liaisons.
  • Provides thought leadership in support of the Vanguard product lineup.
  • Translates views, positioning, strategies from their aligned desk to enhance impact in thought leadership, marketing collateral, and client engagements.
  • Contributes to new product launches and develops go-to market strategy launches.
  • Participates in internal training and communications including training on launches and changes to existing products.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ten years of demonstrated experience in product management and investment analysis/strategy with a preference for prior fixed income portfolio management, trading, strategy, and/or risk experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC). These will be determined by Compliance based on role-specific duties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with modern quantitative finance and portfolio construction preferred.
  • CFA (or other advanced, specialized certifications) preferred.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
