About the position
The Metaplex Foundation is looking for a Senior Finance Manager to help oversee financial planning, accounting and reporting. Metaplex powers one of the largest blockchain developer ecosystems in the world, providing the onchain infrastructure needed to build decentralized applications on Solana and the Solana Virtual Machine. As the leading digital asset protocol for tokens, NFTs, gaming assets and more, Metaplex has facilitated the creation of over 800 million assets and powered $8.3 billion in transaction value across 8.6 million unique signers. The Metaplex Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and growing the Metaplex ecosystem. Our mission is to help build the onchain economy by empowering developers with comprehensive tools to create decentralized applications.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to guide strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Manage all financial reporting, ensure tax compliance, and coordinate audits (both internal and external) to maintain transparency and accuracy.
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and accounting policies, safeguarding assets and ensuring accurate financial records.
- Optimize cash flow management and overall financial strategy to ensure the organization’s sustainability and growth.
- Work closely with the leadership team, providing insights and strategic recommendations based on financial data and industry trends.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements in every jurisdiction we operate.
Requirements
- Prior experience working at an accounting firm, providing a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial best practices.
- Proven experience serving as the finance lead (e.g., Finance Manager, Controller, or Head of Finance) at a seed-stage or higher technology startup.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a wide range of finance and accounting responsibilities, from strategic planning to hands-on bookkeeping and transaction management.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, adapting to new challenges and wearing multiple hats as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (advanced degree or MBA is a plus).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with crypto payment tools, multi-signature wallets and exchanges.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is a strong plus, indicating advanced expertise in accounting and compliance.
- Deep knowledge of startup finance and accounting best practices, including scaling financial operations and supporting rapid growth.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel/Google Sheets, financial modeling programs) with the ability to build and interpret complex financial models and reports.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker who can not only report on numbers but also provide forward-looking insights and recommendations to drive business decisions.

- Location: Remote
- Base compensation range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year.
