About the position
This position is responsible for conducting heavy cleaning and floor care work in a healthcare environment, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. The role involves operating cleaning equipment, responding to service requests, and maintaining infection control protocols while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to all requests for cleaning services via computerized and paper-based tracking systems.
- Perform specialty cleaning and infection control functions in clinical areas, surgical suites, and isolation rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational functioning of department equipment, notifying personnel of needed repairs.
- Assess environmental conditions to ensure the facility is neat, clean, safe, and orderly, resolving clutter and safety issues.
- Provide leadership and on-the-job training for less experienced associates in cleaning techniques and infection control procedures.
- Perform scheduled floor care procedures including dust mopping, stripping, refinishing, and carpet extraction.
- Work under regular supervision, communicating with internal and external customers.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of diversified environmental service work experience in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Working knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and appropriate cleaning techniques for healthcare environments.
- Basic math skills for calculating cleaning chemical quantities and mix ratios.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to provide instructions and information.
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate several projects simultaneously despite frequent interruptions.
- Role model in customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control.
