Responsibilities

  • Lead technical engineering conceptual studies for new aircraft, design optimization, production easement and trade studies.
  • Provide technical solutions to production line for all structural and system installation issues.
  • Provide technical direction to junior design engineers to accomplish day-to-day tasks.
  • Ensure effective management of assigned design activities by closely working with other engineering departments, internal and external customers, Methods, Quality and Procurement.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to airframe structures.
  • Prepare structural and systems layouts, interface drawings, installations, assembly and detail drawings.
  • Create detailed three-dimensional CAD models of the aircraft external surfaces, structure and systems.
  • Support design and program reviews with partners/suppliers.
  • Status projects for functional management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7 to 12 years of experience in airframe primary and secondary structures design including systems installations.
  • Understanding of airframe configuration, optimization, loads, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and structural in-service requirements.
  • Experience in control surface rigging and/or functional test engineering requirements.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), Dimensional Management, and ability to perform manufacturing tolerance stack ups.
  • Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and certification procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and interact on a daily basis with other professionals and technicians.
  • Good working knowledge of CAD packages such as CATIA V5 & Enovia or NX & Teamcenter and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience on Bombardier business jet platforms, specifically Global 7500/8000.
