About The Position

At Nutanix, we are aggressively expanding our Nutanix Database (NDB) platform into a premier Hybrid Multi-Cloud Solution. We are seeking a visionary Senior Manager, Software Development to spearhead this transformation, leading the architecture and delivery of our next-generation cloud-native database services. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of technical depth, product impact, and team leadership. The Nutanix Database Service (NDB) is a DBaaS (Database as a Service) product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The product is expanding to a Hybrid Multi Cloud Solution with a scalable architecture. The NDB engineering team is distributed across USA, Serbia, and India. If the idea of starting small and building big excites you, you will be a good fit for this team. Requirements

10+ years in software engineering, with significant time in leadership roles.
Proven track record of delivering complex, distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, hybrid cloud platforms, and databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Redis preferred).
Experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, and APIs.
Demonstrated ability to drive large, cross team initiatives.
Strong operational mindset with experience in production systems, incident handling, and release delivery.
Experience hiring, mentoring, and scaling teams.
Ability to balance hands-on technical direction with effective delegation.

Nice To Haves

Experience with database platforms or DBaaS.
Experience leading platform re-architecture or cloud transformation.
Background in high availability or data protection systems.

Responsibilities

Drive Platform Innovation: Lead the design and delivery of next-gen NDB architecture, including database-in-containers, microservices, and modern APIs.
Help shape the platform for the next 5–10 years by partnering with Product and Architecture teams.
Own Execution & Delivery: Deliver high-impact features across cloud and on-prem NDB.
Own end-to-end execution from planning to release with a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes.
Champion Reliability & Quality: Drive operational excellence through incident management, RCA processes, and on-call rigor.
Lead efforts to resolve customer-facing issues, improve product quality, and strengthen engineering discipline.
Build & Scale Engineering Teams: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high performing engineers.
Hire and develop top talent; raise the engineering bar across the organization.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Product, Support, and field teams to deliver customer centric solutions.
Align engineering execution with business priorities and customer impact.
