About the position

At Raytheon, our mission is to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. The System Engineering Directorate plays a crucial role in Mission Systems Integration activities, focusing on defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE). We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team, specifically for the SPY-6 Family of Radars and the GhostEye family of radars. This position is integral to the execution of integration and analysis activities, where the selected candidate will be responsible for identifying issues, generating solutions, and verifying that these solutions are implemented as designed. The role requires a strong focus on the development of concepts of operations for radar systems, radar software requirements development, and statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data. The Systems Engineer will also be involved in analysis tool development to support problem identification and resolution, collaborating closely with Systems and Software Engineers to develop and implement effective solutions. Additional focus areas for these radar systems include signal processing and waveform design, electronic protection methods, phased array and digital beamforming technology, radar search, track and discrimination design, target and threat modeling, as well as integration and testing of large radar systems. This position requires daily on-site support and is not open to hybrid or remote work options.

Responsibilities

  • Identify issues in radar systems and generate effective solutions.
  • Verify that solutions are implemented as designed.
  • Develop concepts of operations for radar systems.
  • Conduct radar software requirements development.
  • Perform statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data.
  • Develop analysis tools to support problem identification and resolution.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to implement solutions.
  • Focus on signal processing and waveform design for radar systems.
  • Engage in electronic protection methods and phased array technology.
  • Participate in integration and testing of large radar systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this position.
  • Active and in-scope Secret US security clearance is required.
  • Experience with design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with technical writing and oral presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or PhD in a STEM field.
  • Experience with multi-sensor track management and data fusion.
  • Knowledge of adaptive signal processing and clutter mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with electronic attack and electronic protection methods.
